Owning land is important in the metaverse. It is the web 3 equivalent of owning your own website, or domain name. In the metaverse people will not be typing in websites, but traveling to your land to access content or experiences. There are different types of properties in Upland where each have different utility. Below are the different types of properties you can interact with in Upland.
These properties are available to players to mint. They are typically released during new city releases, and are available to mint in UPX only. FSA properties are specifically reserved for new players (Visitors and Uplanders only) and are typically the cheapest land parcels that Upland offers in the specific city. Learn more about FSA properties and their restrictions.
Terminals are sold as part of new city releases. These transportation gateways are the routes required to take to enter or leave a city. In the future, there will be cities accessible by private vehicles. Terminals are sold for USD, and can range from several hundred dollars to over $1,500 depending on the transportation method and city tier. This makes these terminals a great place to attract foot traffic within the metaverse.
Terminals are unique in that the owners participate in profit sharing from outbound ticket prices purchased from that terminal. Learn how it's calculated, and watch this video to learn about some reasons why you might want to own a terminal.

Landmarks are iconic properties in each city that are not available for minting during new city releases. They are put up for auction (reverse auction in UPX) and you can expect to pay several million UPX for these properties. There are instances where they are sold in the UPX store for USD. In these instances you have to register for the right to purchase the property.
The structure that will be built on the landmark is a digital replica of the existing real world landmark itself. Your property will also receive a unique icon that is visible from a zoomed out state in the map (see picture below). As of July 2023, you are unable to create a metaventure on a constructed landmark.
