Following a community vote, an overwhelming majority of Upland players voted to accept Upland’s proposal of implementing a new ERC-20 fungible token into the Upland platform.  The Upland economy is powered by its in game currency UPX, and spark.  UPX is used to purchase items like digital properties mapped to the real world within the metaverse, and spark is a resource that is staked and is used to construct and manufacture in Upland.

Sparklet will be launched on Ethereum despite the fact that Upland is built on the EOS blockchain.  Upland, which is part of the Open Metaverse Alliance for Web 3 (OMA3) has already created interoperability functionality enabling players to connect their MetaMask wallets to their Upland accounts ahead of the token release.  Sparklet can be converted to/from spark at a rate of 1 spark = 1000 sparklet, and this will enable people to effectively trade their spark, as within the metaverse, spark is non-transferrable.  By converting your in game spark to sparklet, you will be able to sell it freely on Ethereum.  Players looking to construct or manufacture quickly can go to the Ethereum blockchain to purchase sparklet, immediately upload it to the metaverse, and start their projects.

Upland is giving players a chance to win sparklet before the token release. The upcoming airdrop is aimed at rewarding community members and newbies for engaging with Upland before the token goes live.  Winning sparklet will come from completing in game missions, and engagement on twitter.  After the airdrop campaign, the token tradability event will follow, letting users convert their in-game Spark currency into a tradeable sparklet Ethereum token.

Its not too late to start to get involved in the Upland metaverse.  Learn more here about signing up with some great bonuses.Â
