Full transcript
the Upland metaverse just made a huge
announcement with their partnership with
Vox which is part of Gala games this is
bringing interoperability one step
closer to the metaverse I’m YK 2012
founder of the Upland guide and in this
video I’m going to explain more about
this partnership what is
interoperability and why this is
important for not only up lenders but
also players of Gala games and the web 3
metaverse ecosystem as a whole
when we talk about the metaverse of
course there’s the Upland metaverse
there’s also the voxverse and there are
many other metaverses that exist and
will come into existence at the end of
the day there will be different
metaverses that serve different purposes
similar to social media you have
Facebook Instagram LinkedIn Tick Tock
all of these different platforms serve
different purposes and people use a wide
selection of them on a daily basis now
what if you could easily bring a picture
that you posted in LinkedIn over to
Instagram and over to Facebook this is
the challenge that web3 developers are
facing in creating interoperability
between these different metaverses and
worlds Vox is a collectible Avatar
series which is part of Gala games each
Avatar is completely unique and they’ve
already had a partnership with The
Walking Dead and now you are able to and
their next Vox sale is a partnership
with trolls Gala games has a plethora of
games in their portfolio and Vox is the
Avatar that will allow you to jump in
and out of these different worlds one of
those worlds is the Vox verse which is
being created by Will Wright who is the
creator of the Sims there’s a really
interesting AMA which there’s a link in
the upper right hand corner that I
suggest you watch if you want to learn
more about Vox and what they have
planned
this Upland partnership with Vox will
allow anyone who holds a Vox Avatar to
import that into Upland it’s going to be
really interesting to see what these Vox
holders will be able to do in Upland and
I’m going to talk a little bit more
about these challenges in this video
here in Upland we can actually see that
Upland already has a portal you can
connect your Upland account to the
Upland Collectibles nft project on the
wax blockchain you can also go ahead and
see these in your assets
by clicking over to the uploads tab you
can see here that I have uploaded this
nft to Upland we can also see here the
web page that actually pulls up this nft
to learn more about it now with this
partnership with Vox we can expect to
see shortly this portal also working
with the ethereum blockchain it’s also
important to note that on upland’s
roadmap they also have the flow
blockchain listed as a future chain that
will also be included in this portal as
part of this partnership between Upland
and Gala games we can see here that it
says it will be possible for Vox users
to bring collectible ERC 721 nfts from
voxverse into upland’s ecosystem if you
are a player in Upland and you’re not
from the web 3 nft or blockchain space
you probably have absolutely no idea
what this means this basically means the
interoperability is coming going back to
the example that I gave at the beginning
taking a picture from LinkedIn and
moving it over to Facebook we can take
that analogy and have your Vox being
that picture and the two different
platforms being the two different
metaverses so bringing your Vox from the
voxverse to Upland would need some sort
of engineering solution in order to to
translate everything that is associated
to your Vox avatar on the ethereum
blockchain and bring that into Upland
which is on the EOS blockchain as I
mentioned this problem is not unique to
Upland this is something the entire web3
space is trying to solve Upland is at
the Forefront of this as they are part
of the open metaverse Alliance and they
are working with other games in order to
solve this problem take a look at the
link in the upper right hand corner to
learn more about the open metaverse
Alliance now the last technical thing
that I just want to bring up is this ERC
721 ERC stands for ethereum request
comment and ERC 721 is the protocol and
instructions for how to create an nft on
the ethereum blockchain if you’re
involved in Upland you should know by
now that every single asset that you
have is an nft it’s not created on
ethereum and therefore it doesn’t have
to follow this protocol but they do
follow other protocols Upland has
created a very simple way for players to
create nfts as we can see that through
manufacturing players are able to create
their own nfts and these are all these
pieces of outdoor decor through
manufacturing they have created it in a
way that anyone can go ahead and do this
and you don’t need any special
understanding of programming or creating
nfts like you would on some of these
other blockchains once this engineering
problem is solved and players will be
able to travel with their assets from
one metaverse to another metaverse there
then comes a more difficult problem to
solve in the real world there are
millions of inventions that Engineers
have created that are just completely
useless because nobody wants them or has
a use for them the same thing is true
here if we create this bridge and
ability for people to move assets from
one metaverse to another metaverse it’s
not enough that this exists why would
someone want to do it this is not an
engineering challenge this is a social
and business Channel challenge it is
going to be very interesting to see how
both Vox and Gala and Upland solve this
problem Gala games is all about having
fun and one of the pillars of Upland is
providing utility and making sure things
make economic sense
at face value this seems that it could
be a very promising partnership it’s
going to be interesting to see exactly
how Upland and Vox will develop and grow
this partnership so that everybody can
benefit from it and at the end of the
day it has to be fun even if you have
the economic incentives and you have the
technical Bridge or the interoperability
it has to be fun for people to play
otherwise it just won’t work and that’s
a design problem let me know your
thoughts on this partnership in the
comments below and if you want to learn
