Within a democracy, electing representatives to govern a neighborhood, city, country, etc. is an important way to ensure that the voices and interests of the people are reflected in decision-making and governance.
In Upland, players are able to vote for their elected officials through the targeted voting feature. This will ensure that only specific players are able to vote on certain decisions. For example, only players who on a property in neighborhood A and have it set as their permanent address should be able to vote for who that mayor will be.
The elected mayor will be provided with the login credentials to an Upland owned neighborhood account. He can (and is encouraged) to share this with other trusted members of the neighborhood who will assist with the decoration and construction of parks.
The role of mayor is that of prestige, not power. A mayor is someone who sees themselves as leaders, collaborators, and community builders looking to help their city stand out. Below are the duties of a mayor as defined by Upland.
- Collaborate with players in their city to design and decorate a unique city park
- Gain Access to the official account used to lay out, style, and build the park
- Coordinate with community members, gather input, and guide the overall creative direction
