Uppies – Upland Residents

Residents, or Uppies are what will populate the Upland Metaverse. Where will they live? This page details what Uppies are and how you can draw them to your neighborhood and to live in your homes. Upland describes Uppies as “Think of them as real digital citizens with personalities, interests, and unique stories. From young families looking for schools and parks, to professionals eager for great jobs and nightlife, Uppies are searching for more than just a place to live. They want places where they can truly thrive.” Each city will have its own distinctive Uppies, adding depth, personality, and a cultural flavor to every future city opening.

The foundation of the Upland metaverse is virtual land you are able to develop and build upon. On your properties, these structures are built with Sparklet. There is a variety of structures that serve different utility purposes in the metaverse. Residential structures are the specific type that will house these Uppies. Individual players are able to select their home address, but this is very different from the concept of these Uppies residents.

Uppies are virtual and the total number of them in the metaverse will continue to grow as more residential structures get built. The Upland Census tracks the Upland population and which neighborhoods house the most residents. The exact metaverse population will be tied to the supply of living units, but the number of Uppies will always be much less than the total number of residential structures. This means there will be a lot of competition to have these Uppies live in neighborhoods where you own properties. You will have to make your neighborhood appealing to these Uppies. Each residential building has a specific number of residents, or Uppies that can live there as seen in the picture below. The maximum number of Uppies that can live in a neighborhood can be no more than the number of residential living units there.

Uppies are attracted to specific neighborhoods based on several factors. They’ll gravitate toward neighborhoods with diverse service, strong infrastructure, and all the amenities of a bustling, well-rounded community. Schools, shops, entertainment, safety, jobs, and transit are just a few of the keys to transforming your area into a thriving hub for Uppies. Your direct contribution to the neighborhoods ability to attract Uppies will increase your influence score. Some of these Uppies can be discovered, befriended and minted as Legits. Learn more about befriending Uppies here.

Uppies that are allocated to a specific neighborhood are then equally distributed amongst all the living units in that neighborhood. For example, lets say neighborhood A has 300 properties with a total of 5000 living units, where you own one property with a townhouse that has 3 living units. Lets say the neighborhood has attracted 10,000 Uppies, you will have a total of 6 Uppies from your structures. (10,000 residents / 5000 total living units * 3 your living units). This number will change on a daily basis, and is your residents score. As new structures are being built across the metaverse ,the desirability of Uppies to live in a specific neighborhood also changes. It is not enough for a neighborhood to have residential homes to house these Uppies. Social services, metaventures (businesses) and many factors contribute to the desirability to live in a certain area. This is no different from the real world.

One of these contributing factors will be neighborhood ratings, which is a metric that considers level of economic activity. Service structures are required to increase the desirability of residents to come to a specific neighborhood. It is important to collaborate and plan with other members of your neighborhood. Having a variety of different structures will balance that with residential building will be the key to drawing Uppies to your neighborhood. Having Uppies in your neighborhood and populating your living units will reward players. Having parks with living ornaments and map assets is another communal element that will likely attract residents.
