Upland just announced a new method of defining city tiers. Their 3 tiered system was not inclusive enough, and with the new announcement, they have taken those 3 tiers and turned them into 27! Read this link about the new PSI (price-size-icon factor) ranking. This post will help simplify a number of commonalities between all these new tiers.
To use an example to summarize, city X is tier 2-3-1, meaning that it has a medium real world housing price, smallest in size and most iconic. Moving forward, to talk about each factor individually we will break it up in to P2 S3 and I1. P2 referring to medium price, S3 referring to smallest size, and I1 referring to most iconic.
There are a lot of parallels to the real world. It might seem complex at first to understand everything, but once broken down it makes logical sense. Therefore, its no surprise that if a city is the most iconic (I1), largest (S1), or most expensive (P1) that it will have an airport. It is important to note that this does not exclude other cities from not having airports as well. These types of cities will likely serve as hub cities in the future.
Maximum send fees for P3 cities are 25 UPX. Maximum fees for P2 cities are 50 UPX. P1 maximum send fees vary depending on the icon factor. City size has no influence. When the city is P1, maximum send fees for I1=125, I2=100, I3=75 UPX.
S3 and I3 cities have the fewest number of collections – up to 10, while S1 and I1 cities have the most with at least 25. Other combinations of P, S, and I result in a varying amount of collections ranging from 9-22.
The amount of FSA properties that exist in a city is another important factor, especially for new players. Players who are able to mint FSA properties as part of a new city release can set themselves up quite nicely for exponential growth in the game. As the Upland player base continues to grow, the availability of these smaller and cheaper properties that are available to only Visitors and Uplanders are typically all minted within several hours of the city release; several minutes for the city’s most popular areas.
The size of a city has no influence over the amount of FSA properties it will have. This factor is completely dependent on the real world prices and the icon factor of the city. Cities that are P3 and I3 have the most FSA properties with approximately 70%. All the other combinations can be seen in the table below and range from 13%-33%.
Dale the Llama hopes you now have a better grasp of these new tiers. There is no reason to remember every detail, but to understand the logic behind it. From there you will pick up on it quickly!
