Desjaak Winter Holiday Ornament

Hi everyone!

I, Desjaak had such a blast learning blender and putting my creativity in creating Holiday Ornaments! Now it’s time to vote, so I’m here to introduce my ornament to you.

I call it: “Merry Metaverse”

My selected design is only available for the Small Townhouse v2, which I picked because I needed a flat roof. This competition was my first attempt at Blender, so getting the idea out of my head and into my computer was hard enough already haha. I knew I wanted to make a snow globe after I saw a blender tutorial about the glass material, and wanted to see if I could apply that to a design. But after I created the glass part of the globe, I still had to come up with something to fill it with. A snowman? Llamas? Christmas tree? And then I had it: fill it with props!

The effect is known as a Droste effect, which funny enough is Dutch, just like me. Droste was a Dutch cacao brand. They had a package with an image of a woman holding a package of Droste, with on there a woman holding a package of Droste, with on there a woman holding a package of Droste, with on there a woman holding a…. well you get the point.

So the snow globe is filled with a property, with on top of that, a snow globe filled with a property, with on top of that, a snow globe filled with a property, with on top of that… Ehh yeah hopefully you’ll get the point. If you really look closely, you will see four snow globes, after that it gets a bit too small to see.

And to really get “meta” with that, the metaverse is also a kind of Droste effect. A universe within a universe, an economy within an economy. But with so much more to come. So on the side of the property you will find a holiday wish for you all (not sure what font it ended up with…): Merry Metaverse!

Don’t forget to cast your vote! You can find this design in the Small Townhouse v2 category, but there are many more great designs to vote on too. And thank you so much if you voted on me! Votes can be submitted here.

Check out all the entries here and don’t forget to vote for me before Saturday December 11, 11:59 PM PT to win a free ornament.
