In an effort to create more parity and make treasure hunting more fair, Upland has made changes to the city tiers of London and Tokyo. These cities are defined at Tier 1 treasure hunting cities. (The treasure hunting tier is different from the city tier). The higher the treasure hunting tier the higher the rewards for finding treasures, as well as the higher the send fees. Cities like London and Tokyo, which have future expansions planned provide advantages to players who treasure hunt now while the city is much smaller than what it will be when fully released. In order to factor this in, Upland has announced that cities will start their treasure hunting tiers at lower tiers and have their tiers upgraded based on the percent that the city is fully released until they realize their intended tier. Upon implementation (November 17, 2023) only Tokyo and London are affected. In addition to the adjustment of the treasure hunting tier, the send fees will be adjusted accordingly as well.

When a city has 71% of the total intended properties available to mint, it will reach its intended treasure hunting tier.

Between 41% – 70% of the total intended properties available to mint, the city will experience a reduction of 1 tier.

With 40% or less of the total intended properties available to mint, the city will experience a reduction of 2 treasure hunting tiers.

It is worth noting that for London and Tokyo, only about 10% of the intended properties are available for minting as of this writing (November 17, 2023) Read Upland’s official release here.
