Players will be able to define their own race tracks in Upland for players to race upon. The great thing about Upland is that the metaverse is mapped to the real world. Just like using Google Maps or Waze where you are able to plan a trip between specific points on a map in the real world, you will also be able to do that in the metaverse! The racing experience will be fully immersive and 3D enabling you to see the metaverse as the cars race around the track. All the building, outdoor decor and other 3D objects will be visible as your car drives around the track. Moreover, if you have a cafe in view of the racetrack where maybe all the participants gather during race time, you will be able to see the cars racing by in real time.
If you are going to be designing your own race track, it is important to understand how racing works, and how a player can win a car race. Watch this video to learn how to win car races.
If you are investing thought and time into creating your own race track, you will most certainly want people to utilize it. With infinite possibilities of potential race tracks, the question becomes why would people choose to race your specific track? You will want to create a track that provides value to at a minimum one specific group of people. As the supply of different types of race tracks increases, the demand to use each one will decrease. This is true unless you can make your track stand out. Below is a list of different groups of people that could benefit from a racetrack that passes by their property or neighborhood. Make sure to review the speedway metaventure page to learn more about the specific requirements of these speedways and how to register for one.
Whether it be official Upland partners or any other real world brand that enters the metaverse, there are endless possibilities of ways brands can leverage the platform and provide value to other Uplanders. Being a part of the metaverse is just the first step. There will be ways to provide unique experiences or prizes to Uplanders who are able to see and interact with your brand in the metavers.
If you have a special property - maybe one in an ultra rare collection, a landmark, or even something special with real world meaning you might want people to see it. Having a racetrack pass by your home is a great way for people to see it. If you have a nice building, a cool sports car parked in the garage or a nice piece of decor on your lawn, people will be able to see it during the race.
If you own a metaventure - maybe a showroom or a block explorer shop, having it visible along a racetrack is a great way to advertise your shops. Maybe after the race, the players will head over to your store to see what you have on sale.
If you own a racing academy where you train and improve block explorers, having a custom designed track that will help to improve specific qualities of your block explorers, or cars should be good for your business.
The first brand of cars that will enter the metaverse is M-Motors - Upland's car brand. Following that, real world brands will have the ability to design their own car brand in the metaverse. Designing a track that would be best geared towards a specific type of car could be a way to attract a specific group of racers.
If you have a node, or manage a community centered around a specific geographical location, having a racetrack in your neighborhood could be a great way strengthen your community. You could use this to host regular racing leagues, and it is also a great way to show off what makes your neighborhood great!
If you are a designer - either of in game structures or outdoor decor, having a racetrack that passes by properties that display your work could be a fantastic way to have people see it. All structures, and 3D objects on the properties that are visible on along the race will be seen along the race.
Players who focus their time on excelling at racing will most certainly have a certain type of race or specific race track that best meets the abilities of their cars and/or block exploreres. If one doesn't exist they can create their own to give themselves a home track advantage.
As a play to earn game, these players are optimizing for winning - they won't be interested in any other aspect, but only to ensure they have the best probability of winning.
These racers most certainly are also excited about the ability to earn through winning, but for them its not everything that is important. These people are interested in racing and experiencing different tracks, taking part in social racing leagues and trying their luck in different tracks. This is also a great opportunity to explore the metaverse, learn more about different cities and neighborhoods.
Car racing opens a wide range of possibilities for brands and players to provide additional value beyond that of the Upland platform. As tools are released, the possibilities are endless of what developers can add to create a memorable experience for racers of a specific track.
Car racing is a competitive and fun way for people to connect. You can create your own racing league for you and your friends. Compete, earn in game and maybe most importantly earn bragging rights!
Once you have thought of the primary groups of people who would benefit from this track, use the checklist below as you begin to think of your race track route.
- Will your track be circular of have different start and ending locations (it is unclear if having the race end at a different location is an option)
- Where will the starting location be?
- Who is the track designed for? Will your track be optimized for a specific car or block explorer trait?
- What will the track length be?
- Will the track have long stretches without turns – optimized for speed and acceleration, or many turns optimized for cars that have strong brakeing and handling?
- Will the track pass through any points of interests – landmarks, metaventures, etc.
See the Upland Guide Maps below where you can find the exact locations of the different racetracks.
