City evolutions are an updated method for Upland to expand metaverse cities that have previously been launched. Historically, cities that were partially released would have additional city expansions where a large number of properties across a large number of neighborhoods were released similar to how city releases were conducted. The city evolution is a new and more measured approach to releasing properties in existing cities that were only partially released.

Instead of launching thousands of properties at once, Upland gradually releases small batches within a single neighborhood. Each neighborhood might have multiple openings over time, spaced at regular intervals (usually on weekends), making it easier for players to plan and participate.
With city evolutions, properties are purchased in bundles from the Upland store. Players must register ahead of time for these bundles, where a portion are sold for UPX, and others sold for USD. (When purchasing anything for USD from the Upland store, make sure you are logged in with a browser and not the mobile app. The app store charges you additional fees for using the app).
