Boats are required in the Upland metaverse in order to find troves, which are central to the discovery and progression across Upland. A variety of fish troves will be available for players to discover while fishing. In order to fish you will need to own a boat. These boats will enable you to venture out into open waters – both lakes and oceans to discover these troves.
Troves are an integral part of Uppie discovery – to have the opportunity to discover and mint an Uppie, you will need to exchange specific troves. You will be able to exchange fish related troves in service structures like supermarkets, restaurants and fish markets in exchange for troves that Uppies require. Some Uppies may even require these specific fish troves themselves.
The following are the different types of boats in Upland. Larger boats will be able to venture out to more open waters in order to find fish troves that are more rare. Its not enough to own a boat, but that boat must be docked at a marina. It is not possible to fish from shoreline or waterfront properties. The only way to fish will be by setting sail from your boat located on a marina property.
A personal watercraft built for basic fishing on lakes and just off the coastline. Ideal for players starting their fishing journey.

The Speed Boat is the same size class as the Skiff but offers greater speed and performance. While it will be limited to the same fishing zones and range as the Skiff, it can reach those areas more quickly.
That added speed provides a strategic advantage. Players can reposition faster, respond more efficiently to fish migration, and spend less time traveling between fishing areas. Built for both recreation and fishing, the Speed Boat delivers improved mobility without extending offshore range.

A larger and more powerful vessel capable of venturing farther offshore than previous models. Offers expanded exploration potential.

The ultimate fishing vessel. Built for deep ocean travel, this yacht unlocks access to the most unique and hard-to-find fish troves in Upland.

Boats are a form of transportation, but they do not contribute to a neighborhoods transportation score and won’t contribute towards the ability for the neighborhood to attract more Uppies, as detailed in the census.
