Uppies are the virtual residents that populate the Upland metaverse, and this page details how you can befriend and mint them! The number of total Uppies across the metaverse continues to grow as players construct more homes for them with Sparklet. At any given time, a portion of those virtual Uppies are discoverable on the map and can be befriended (minted) and owned by players. These specific Uppies are Legits, and each one is completely unique. Each discoverable Uppie has a name, appearance, and backstory, making them a unique part of the Upland world.
Each city in Upland will have its own distinctive Uppies, adding depth, personality, and cultural flavor to every future city opening.
Discovering Uppies has not yet arrived to Upland, and will be launched in the future after the release of the residents feature. (Updates as of August 12th, 2025)
There are 3 types of Uppies that you can discover:
- Normal Uppies — Found anywhere in Upland.
- Special Edition Uppies — Location-specific and more difficult to find, tied to the identity of a particular city.
- Iconic Parody Uppies (IPUs) — Rare, standout personalities that represent the pinnacle of Uppy collecting.
When traveling around the metaverse, if you discover a an Uppie you can befriend, you will first have to play a quick mini-game. If you succeed, you will have the opportunity to pay a certain amount of UPX (the amount will fluctuate) to mint that Uppie, and add him to your personal collection. Of course, if you do not want that specific Uppie, or if it is too expensive, you can opt to not mint it. A portion of the minting fee will be paid to the property owner where the Uppie was discovered. Learn about more ways to earn in the metaverse here.
Once minted, the Legit will appear in your assets, and each Uppie will have a photo, name, and details included. Below are a number of examples of Uppies. Just like other Legits, they can be bought, sold in variety shop metaventures.
When discovering an Uppie, you are most likely to find a Level 1 Newborn or a Level 2 Toddler. There are a total of 10 levels of Uppies – learn about them here. Your Uppies can be merged to level them up to a more rare resident. By merging them, you will permanently burn or delete the existing ones in exchange for a higher level Uppie.
